HUN'GRY, adjective Having a keen appetite; feeling pain or uneasiness from want of food. Eat only when you are hungry

1. Having an eager desire.

2. Lean; emaciated, as if reduced by hunger.

Cassius has a lean and hungry look.

3. Not rich or fertile; poor; barren; requiring substances to enrich itself; as a hungry soil; a hungry gravel.
