ISLE

ILE, noun ile. [Latin insula.]

1. A tract of land surrounded by water, or a detached portion of land embosomed in the ocean, in a lake or river.

The isles shall wait for his law. Isaiah 42:4.

2. A passage in a church. [See Aisle.]
